Family Literacy Fair

November is Family Literacy Month, and Eckhart Public Library is celebrating with a Family Literacy Fair! Family Literacy Month began in 1994, when the nonprofit organization the National Center for Family Learning (NCFL) worked with Congress to designate November 1st as National Family Literacy Day. The NCFL works with libraries, schools, and educational programs across the country to support parents and caregivers as they help the children in their care develop literacy skills. On Saturday, November 14th, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, families are invited to engage with different stations across the Main Library. Attendees can visit each station, hear a story, and participate in activities relating to each station's book. We're excited to have two special guest readers: Jan Hewitt and Jen McCann, librarians at J.R. Watson Elementary School and McKenney-Harrison Elementary School, respectively. All attendees will receive a lunch and a coupon for a free book from the Friends of the Library Book & Media Sale taking place at the Willennar Administrative Annex (across the street from the library). Plus, families who complete each station's activity will be entered into a drawing for a $100 Walmart gift card!
