QPR Suicide Prevention
Description
Every September, The National Alliance on Mental Illness recognizes Suicide Prevention Month as "a time to raise awareness, spread hope, and spark meaningful action around one of the most urgent mental health issues of our time."
On Monday, September 21st, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Bowen Health will be at the library to provide an informative session on QPR Suicide Prevention training. QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) is a widely recognized, evidence-based training for everyday people.
According to the QPR Institute, "Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help."
This session is geared towards parents, teens, and parents WITH their teens. It will be taught by a certified QPR instructor. Light refreshments will be served.
This class is free and no registration is required.
If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 immediately.
